Carl Jacobs Announces Re-Election Campaign

Today, I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Anchorage School Board. I expect this to be a hard-fought campaign, and I need your support to win.

Together, we are responsible for ensuring that our schools provide a safe, nurturing, and challenging learning environment for all students to reach their full potential.

My goal has been to create a better educational experience for all students in our district, and I am proud to say that we have made significant progress toward this goal.

Since being elected, I have:

  • Spearheaded a Board policy to compel Board attendance at community council meetings. If members do not attend 50% of their assigned meetings, they cannot serve as president or a committee chair the following year.
  • Steered $2.5 million in funding to stand up critical student mental health and counseling supports. ASD now provides more students with the help they need to navigate adolescence.
  • Led the charge to implement an anonymous bullying and harassment reporting system for all ASD students, parents, and staff. Students can now anonymously raise concerns via telephone or smartphone app 24/7 and have access to mental health support when they call.
  • Supported an interim goal framework, which enabled ASD to introduce financial literacy curriculum into existing high school coursework.

Serving on the school board has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am committed to continuing my work to improve our schools and ensure that every student receives a high-quality education.

Your contribution today will help me run a strong and effective campaign and allow me to continue advocating for policies and programs that benefit our students and community.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to working in support of ASD families and students in the years to come.
