Carl Jacobs has declared victory in the race for Anchorage School Board Seat G. We invite you to read our press release and express our appreciation for your support over the past year.
Carl looks forward to his new term with renewed purpose and determination. He is ready to tackle the challenges ahead and remains dedicated to fulfilling the promises made during his campaign.
Since Being Elected, Carl Has –
- Spearheaded a Board policy to compel Board attendance at community council meetings. If members do not attend 50% of their assigned meetings, they cannot serve as president or a committee chair the following year.
- Steered $2.5 million in funding to stand up critical student mental health and counseling supports. ASD now provides more students with the help they need to navigate adolescence.
- Led the charge to implement an anonymous bullying and harassment system for all ASD students. Students can now report concerns via telephone or smartphone app 24/7 and have access to mental health support when they call.
- Supported an interim goal framework that enabled ASD to introduce financial literacy curriculum into existing high school coursework.
The Road Ahead
Now more than ever, ASD requires strong, effective leadership serving on the Board. If re-elected, Carl will –
- Continue to emphasize and expand independent living skills and career and technical education opportunities to support the next generation of Alaska’s workforce.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal stakeholders to ensure the Anchorage School District has the resources necessary to succeed and appropriately value the hardworking Alaskans who help shape our children’s future.
- Work to ensure all children have access to quality education program options, including alternative and charter programs.
- Continue to promote transparency and accountability at all levels of operation.
